Gestural overlap in connected speech
X-ray pellet trajectories for perfect memory (A) spoken as a citation form - note the release of the [t] - and in connected speeech (B) - no release of [t] and hence, perceived 'consonant cluster simplification'. However, the coronal gesture (alveolar closure) is present in both A & B. Question: Why is the coronal gesture in B not apparent to the listener?
