The Postcolonial Research Group was founded in 1986. It consists of postgraduate students and staff from three universities in Southern Queensland and meets regularly at the School of English, Media Studies and Art History at The University of Queensland to discuss general theoretical issues, recent controversial texts and members' work in progress. It holds regular international conferences on post-colonial topics and has instituted an occasional publications series. The key aims of the group are to encourage and facilitate staff and postgraduate research, both collaborative and individual.

 Activities

  • provides an expert forum for work-in-progress for postgraduates and staff researchers in the field of colonial and post-colonial literatures and literary theory;
  • undertakes collaborative research projects and encourages both individual and group research applications;
  • holds local, national and international conferences and hosts visiting experts from Australia and abroad;
  • publishes the results of collaborative work;
  • maintains national and international links with individuals and groups working in the broad field of postcolonial studies.
